Before You Apply

Before applying for your firearms license, please ensure that you meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be a United States Citizen or provide proof of Naturalization.
  2. Must be a West Bridgewater resident or business owner in West Bridgewater. You must provide proof of residency as well as proof that you own the business.
  3. For a License to Carry (LTC), you must meet eligibility requirements as defined by MGL Chapter 140, Section 131.
  4. For a Firearms Identification Card (FID), you must meet eligibility requirements as defined by MGL Chapter 140, Section 129B.
  5. The Licensing Authority may require other documentation as necessary.

Due to the ever-changing status of the Federal and Massachusetts Gun Laws by either legislative action or court rulings, the list below is a partial one, and you should inquire further at the time of application. In these times of apparently increasing violence, the process for obtaining one of the above licenses is time-consuming and very thorough with many requirements to meet. These requirements include the following:

You may obtain an application for the license you wish to apply for by visiting the MA Firearms Services page.

LTC and FID Application Process

For this appointment, you will be fingerprinted (if NEW) and photographed, and you will need to pay the appropriate fee. You will also be asked to provide proof of residency (an MA driver’s license is best). The fees are as follows:

  • $25 for an under 18 years old FID (Parent or legal guardian permission by notarized letter required)
