Lt. Jonathan Craven

I graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield in 1995. I went on to Westfield State College where I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. I obtained my Master’s degree from Anna Maria College in 2022. Prior to being a West Bridgewater Police Officer, I spent 9 years with the Department of Youth Services as a Caseworker in Boston and a year as a Social Worker with the Department of Children & Families in Brockton. I spent 2 years working part-time with the West Bridgewater Police Department before being hired full-time in November 2010. I spent 1 year as a patrolman, followed by 5 years as a Detective & Court Prosecutor, 6 years as a Patrol Sergeant before getting promoted to Lieutenant in 2024.

Hobbies:

During the warm weather months, you will find me on the golf course with my sons, or at a local pond fishing.  In the winter, I love skiing with my family and visiting the Mountains in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Hardest part of the job:

This career can be very demanding and taxing on our families and personal lives. For our officers,  this is a 24-7 job, which often means sacrificing time with our loved ones in order to serve the community.

Best part of the job:

Interacting with the community members in a positive light. The best days in this job are the ones where we get to spend our day interacting with children and their families. Whether it is on a call for service, during a sporting event, or even in the store, we always enjoy meeting new people. It’s great to meet people when they aren’t in a crisis situation.
