DATE OF HIRE 2/26/2004
I graduated from Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, majoring in House Carpentry. I then joined the United States Marine Corps in 1992 and served as an electrician with 2nd Surveillance Reconnaissance Group and 2nd Combat Engineers for 4 years. After leaving active service, I served with the 6th Motor Transport Battalion out of East Providence and ended my military career as a platoon sergeant in September 2001.
In 2000, I was hired as a Special Police Officer (part-time) for the Town of West Bridgewater. Realizing that I really enjoyed being a Police Officer and serving the community, I pursued a full-time position. In 2004, I was hired as a full-time Police Officer. During my tenure with the West Bridgewater Police Department, I have performed the duties of Armorer, Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor.
I also served as a Special Weapons and Tactics Officer on the Satucket Regional Swat Team from 2008 to 2012 responding to critical incidents in West Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, and Bridgewater. The Satucket Regional Swat Team then merged with South Eastern Mass Law Enforcement Council Swat Team or S.E.M.L.E.C. Swat in 2012 through 2015. S.E.M.L.E.C. Swat mutual aid response team serves 30 communities on the south shore and is comprised of officers from all of those communities. During this time I responded to many incidents at all hours of the day and night, assisting these communities with their critical incidents.
HOBBIES:
I enjoy golf, fishing, and hunting. I also love spending time with my family.
HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB:
Having to see and assist people at the lowest points in their lives. This tends to be more difficult having grown up in West Bridgewater and knowing most of the older community. Having a schedule that does not always allow you to be home for holidays, family events, and my children’s sporting events can also be difficult.
BEST PART OF YOUR JOB:
The excitement of coming into work and not knowing what will happen during your shift. It could be anything from helping someone who has their keys locked in their vehicle to assisting in delivering babies. There truly is nothing like the feeling that you’ve done something to make someone else’s life just a little better.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A POLICE OFFICER:
Not everyone is perfect and we all make our mistakes in life, myself included, which led me to speak with an officer. I spoke to that officer about my poor choice and from that point on I tried to make better choices in life. This officer helped me and I hope to do the same for people in my career. As I said above, there truly is nothing like the feeling that you’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life.
