Officer Fernando Colombo

I moved from Brazil to the United States in October of 1998. I graduated from Brockton High School in 2004. In 2008 I joined the United States Army where I served for 10 years.  In the Army I achieved the rank of Sergeant, and received multiple awards. I deployed to Iraq with the 3rd Infantry Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. I graduated from Massasoit Community College where I studied Criminal Justice, and I am currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree. In 2013 I began my Law enforcement career with the Weymouth Police. Department, where I served for 11 years in the patrol division. On July 25, 2024 I had the privilege of becoming a member of the West Bridgewater Police Department. 

HOBBIES:

In my free time I enjoy playing soccer, traveling, and spending quality time with my wife and kids. 

HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB:

Having to see people at the lowest points in their lives.

Trying to balance the great opportunity of being a police officer and spending time with my family.

BEST PART OF YOUR JOB:

The best part of the job is going to work every day knowing that you have a chance to make a positive impact on people’s lives. The feeling of accomplishment that accompanies every positive outcome you achieve is truly profound. Despite the challenges, there are several rewarding aspects of a career in law enforcement that make it appealing. One of the primary rewards is the satisfaction derived from serving and protecting my community.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A POLICE OFFICER: 

After serving in the Army I knew I had to continue my service to our great nation. I became a police officer to continue my mission which has always been to help others, and to make a positive change in their lives.
