Officer Jacob Sullivan

Start date of 02/25/2018

I grew up in West Bridgewater and graduated from West Bridgewater High School in 2000. I have a  Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from St. John’s University in New York City.

I graduated from the Boston Police Academy in 2016. I worked as a Full-Time Police Officer for the  Town of Stoughton until February of this year. I enjoyed my time in Stoughton and am thankful for  everything I learned there but when an opportunity came up to serve the community that I grew up in l,  I had to take my chance to transfer. Prior being a Police Officer, I worked for the Transportation Security Administration at Logan Airport in  Boston. While employed at the TSA, I held every uniformed position and ended my 10 year career as a  Security Manager.

HOBBIES:

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, going camping or just spending time  outdoors, playing with my dog and golfing.

BEST PART OF OUR JOB:

I truly enjoy being a Police Officer and the idea that every shift I have the ability to help impact  someone’s life in a positive way. It is great knowing that I get to spend my workday being outside and  interacting with the community. I am excited to be a member of the department that I grew up admiring  and I hope to contribute in every way possible. As a member of the Stoughton Police Department, I was  fortunate to be a part of a toy drive that was held at Target. We were able to help out so many local  families that otherwise might not have been able to afford to celebrate the holiday. Seeing the smiles on  their faces was something I will never forget.

HARDEST PART OF OUR JOB:

As a Police Officer, we may have to be there for people at a time which may be the single worst day of  their life. It is difficult when the media or public has negative opinions of Police Officers when they may  not have all of the facts. An Officer goes through every call just as the person who called for our help.  Generalized statements from the media, painting police in a negative light, can make our job more  difficult.

WHY I BECAME A POLICE OFFICER:

I have always wanted to be the one that others turned to when they needed help. I have always had a  strong urge to serve my community and do my best to make impactful changes that can help others.
