Sergeant Sean Devilly

I graduated Brockton High School with the class of 2004. I then took a job with the  Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and worked there for several years. While still  employed by the T, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where I served with both the active  duty and reserve components for a total of 8 years. This service included expeditionary time abroad  in support of the Global War on Terrorism. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from  Bridgewater State University and I am currently completing my Master’s Degree in Administration of  Criminal Justice.

HOBBIES:

In my off time I enjoy riding motorcycles, target shooting, bringing my dog on outdoor  adventures and spending low key days/nights with friends and family.

BEST PART OF YOUR JOB:

For me, the best part of being a Police Officer is having a real  opportunity, however slight, to have a positive impact on someone else’s life; helping people during  their times of need or crisis.

HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB:

The hardest part of being a Police Officer is the constant criticism  and scrutiny we face from people who will never understand what we do or how and why we do it.  Officers on the street are providing an ever increasing array of services to the communities they  serve while facing a growing number of unknown threats on a daily basis. For this reason, we must  always continue to train and stay alert, because we never know who we are dealing with or what we  are walking into, but we always want to provide the highest level of service to our citizens.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A POLICE OFFICER:

From a young age, I have always wanted to serve. I served our country proudly as a Marine and now I have the opportunity to serve.
