Chief Timothy Nixon

Date of Hire 10/19/04

I have been a police officer since 2001. I transferred to West Bridgewater from
the Bridgewater Police Department in 2004. Since transferring, I have spent
time as a detective, Det. Sgt., as well as the Lt and executive officer for the
department. I was appointed to the position of Chief of Police in 2024 and
love the challenges and opportunities this position brings. Prior to becoming
a police officer, I worked with the Department of Youth Services for several
years, as well as a High School Social Studies teacher and football coach at
Coyle Cassidy High School. I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s
degrees from Bridgewater State College in the field of Criminal Justice. I
received the FBI LEEDA Trilogy award in 2014, demonstrating a commitment to
training and continuing education in the field of Law Enforcement.

HOBBIES:

I enjoy camping, spending time with my family, and attending as many of my
children’s sporting and school events as I can. With two kids away at College, I
very much enjoy our trips to visit them at school. I spend most, if not all, of my
free time coaching and have coached football for over 24 years at the high
school and youth level in various local programs. I currently coach Offensive
and Defensive line for Bristol Plymouth Regional Vocational High Schoo,l and
love drawing from my Law Enforcement experiences and applying them to
coaching and mentoring young adults.

HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB:

Having your professional life spill over into one’s personal life has always been
hard for me. It is a tough balance of trying to shield your family from some of
the negative aspects of policing, while explaining to your family, especially
when they are young, they are perceived in a different light because of
what you do.

BEST PART OF YOUR JOB:

I get to come to work every day and make an impact on those around me.
One of the best parts of being Chief is watching programs that I help initiate
continue to run successfully with younger officers taking the helm and making
it their own. However, my absolute favorite part is watching officers mature
and grow into leaders and strong community members who are proud of the
job they do. I truly enjoy my position and I am blessed that I get to work with
some of the greatest professional in their respective fields.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A POLICE OFFICER:

I have always been dedicated and involved in the community and this is the
ultimate way to make a positive influence in the lives of others.
