Sergeant Todd Cantalupo

I graduated from Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School,  majoring in Diesel Repair. I then joined the United States Marine Corps and served as an F/A-18  Fighter mechanic for 4 years. During this time, I served in both Desert Storm and Desert Shield.  After leaving active service, I served with the 1st Battalion 25th Marine Reserve Unit (“New England’s  Own”) for approximately 9 years. In 2006 I joined the US Army Reserve and am currently serving as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic Instructor.

In 1998, I was hired as a Special Police Officer (part-time) for the Town of Abington. Realizing that I  really enjoyed being a Police Officer and serving the community, I pursued a full-time position. In  2000, I was hired as a full-time Police Officer with the Town of Abington. During my tenure with the  Abington Police Department, I performed the duties of Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement  Officer, Warrant Apprehension Team member, Field Training Officer, Detective, and Acting  Sergeant.

In 2014, I had the privilege of becoming a member of the West Bridgewater Police Department.

HOBBIES:

I enjoy golf and auto mechanics. I also cherish the time I get to spend with my wife and kids.

HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB:

Having to see people at the lowest points in their lives. Watching the Law Enforcement Community being scrutinized after having to make a split-second decision.  Trying to balance the great opportunity of being a police officer and spending time with my family.

BEST PART OF YOUR JOB:

The challenge of dealing with people at the lowest point in their lives and hoping (most of the time not knowing) that I have made a difference. Meeting so many people from all walks of life and being a part of a profession with people who genuinely care about their community and are true professionals.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A POLICE OFFICER:

Having been a Marine, I found the quasi-military work very attractive. While working as a part-time Police Officer, I worked with many truly good, caring, honest professionals and was drawn to the profession. I am grateful to have been given the honor of serving this great community. Thank you!
