WEST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Timothy Nixon reports that the West Bridgewater Police Department is investigating after a student made a non-specific threatening post on social media.
West Bridgewater Middle-Senior High School administrators learned of the post on Tuesday morning and immediately contacted the School Resource Officer, launching an investigation by the West Bridgewater Police Department.
The student was quickly identified. Following a thorough review, investigators determined that there is no credible threat to the school community and no immediate safety risks.
Out of an abundance of caution, West Bridgewater Police increased its presence at the Middle-Senior High School today. Officers will also maintain an increased presence at the school tomorrow.
“This matter remains under investigation, but at this time there is no evidence of any danger to students or staff,” Chief Nixon said. “We want to reassure the community that their safety is our top priority and that we acted swiftly to address the situation.”
The West Bridgewater Police Department continues to work closely with West Bridgewater Public Schools as the investigation moves forward.
